My Favorite Vegan Spots in LA

This past weekend, I spent another weekend in Los Angeles dining on the best vegan and gluten-free food LA has to offer. I am from the South Bay area of LA which is only about 2 1/2 hours from San Diego (where I currently live) so I frequently take weekend trips to visit my family and friends. I always feel so fortunate to not only to be so close to home but to also get to have a huge variety of dining options for when I’m in town. Gluten-Free Brownie Sundaes

If you read my previous post on The OSGCookathon I did with Emily Vaughn of Puppies and Peanut Butter, you already know that I discovered the most amazing brownie recipe. Although I have been vegan and gluten-free baking for about a year now, I had never been successful veganizing brownies. With every attempt, I would always end up with brownies that tasted good but would crumble apart. Finally I was finally rewarded with perfectly firm and fudgy brownies once I tried the Gluten-Free Chocolate Almond Brownie recipe from The Oh She Glows Cookbook! My only complaint… they are completely addicting! My boyfriend and I ate the whole batch within 3 days. But before devouring them, we put them to great use in a classic brownie sundae.

The OSGCookathon

Glo BarsAbout a week ago, Emily of Puppies and Peanut Butter, approached me about doing a cooking collaboration revolving around The Oh She Glows Cookbook by Angela Liddon. We both have a love for Angela Liddon’s recipes and had just received her cookbook. I soon learned that Emily was also a big believer in following a balanced vegan diet that moderates healthful recipes with occasional indulgences. Given that The Oh She Glows Cookbook is chalk full of whole foods plant-based recipes, we were both eager to dive into it. Her idea was that we could both make the same recipes then share with each other how the process went, what substitutions we made and how the end result of each recipe was. I was already having so much fun cooking my way through The Oh She Glows Cookbook but knew it would be so much more enjoyable if I had someone to share the experience with. Thus the OSGCookathon was born! I could not wait to begin the process.

Rainbow Noodles with Lemon Tahini Sauce

Lately, my favorite meals are loaded with greens and veggies and topped with a lemon tahini drizzle. This meal was created on a night when the refrigerator was full of fresh veggies that hadn’t been put to use yet. I pulled out all of the vegetables and a pack of brown rice noodles and set out to create a deliciously nutritious and easy meal. There really is no need to measure out your greens or vegetables so just add whatever amount you desire! Feel free to substitute or add any other vegetables you have on hand such as carrots, zucchini, kale, etc.
