Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother's Day 4

Usually Monday mornings are rather dreary but today I am full of gratitude and happiness after a wonderful weekend. Friday night, I got to see Ingrid Michaelson, my absolute favorite singer, perform at Humphrey’s By The Bay in Point Loma thanks to my amazing boyfriend who surprised me with the tickets as an early graduation gift. Then, we had a nice lazy Saturday together which was the perfect way to relax before I headed to Newport Beach on Mother’s Day. I celebrated the day with my mom, aunt and grandmother and enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch True Food Kitchen. I can’t believe I had never eaten at True Food Kitchen given it’s menu is so health conscious in addition to being vegan/gluten-free friendly. We were all very excited to eat there since their menu seriously has something for everyone!

While my beautiful mom is not only amazingly supportive and kind, she also happens to be incredibly stylish and is always well dressed. This particular outfit also happens to be cruelty-free too! She wore a striped modal maxi skirt, cotton tank and draped jersey cardigan. She is also wearing the Dogeared Mom Sparkle Heart Necklace which was my Mother’s Day gift to her :) For my outfit, I chose to wear my recently purchased LC Lauren Conrad floral cap sleeve dress which suited the occasion perfectly.

Mother's Day 2True Food Kitchen has an amazing selection of healthy beverages and it was tough for me to decide what to start off with. I selected the Kale-Aid which is a green juice made with kale, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon, and ginger. The other drink I debated ordering was the Bright Eyes which is a tropical inspired juice and sounded just as delicious.

Mother's Day 3Since it was still a little early and I had just eaten a bowl of oatmeal 1 hour prior, I wasn’t quite in the mood for a filling savory entree so I ordered a Coconut Chia Pudding as my main course. The chia pudding is actually on their dessert menu but it’s totally suitable for breakfast!  I often make chia pudding at home but mine doesn’t compare to this! The bananas and coconut milk make it extra creamy and it’s also not too sweet which was perfect since I was having it early in the day. The toasted coconut on top was an amazing addition that I plan on trying to add to my next homemade chia pudding.

Mother's Day 1

We all left True Food Kitchen feeling well nourished and eager to return again soon. I am so thankful for my amazing mom who chose True Food knowing there would be plenty of vegan options for me. She’s always so considerate of making sure there will be something for me to eat when we dine out. I am so lucky to have such strong support for my veganism! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well and got to enjoy some quality family time!

I love TFK! I actually used to be a hostess at the Santa Monica location. Their TLT is amazing. Tempeh, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, on really delicious grainy bread. Sooo good. And their kale salad without the parm is vegan. Also amazing. :)

It totally seems like such a great place to work! I loved the environment and especially appreciated how open the kitchen was. I can’t wait to eat there again and try one of their salads :) I also really want to try more another one of their drinks! The sandwich sounds amazing too!
