Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! My boyfriend and I headed up to Redondo Beach on Thursday for a brief weekend getaway. On the way, we decided to make a stop for dinner at Seabirds Kitchen in Costa Mesa. After getting a bit lost, we finally found Seabirds nestled within a colorful and lively outdoor shopping center aptly named “The Anti-Mall”. With an array of artsy eclectic shops and restaurants, our interest was instantly peaked.
We didn’t have time to do more than a quick stroll through the center at the time but we knew we had to come back. So on Sunday’s drive back to San Diego, equipped with a camera, we made our return for some further exploration. And of course another meal at the delicious Seabirds Kitchen! After a little more digging around, we discovered that the center is also known as The LAB and it has an equally intriguing counterpart, The Camp. We spent our afternoon at both centers and had the best time. Unlike most malls, you don’t feel swarmed by rushing eager shoppers. Instead, the centers are full of culture and have a relaxing vibe. Plus, I loved how eco and vegan friendly most of the stores and restaurants were!
Some of our favorite spots were the water fountain made from vibrantly painted metal barrels, the vintage air streamers located throughout both centers, and the steps adorned with words to live by. All of these gorgeous photos of The LAB and The Camp were taken my boyfriend who had fun taking snapshots of the gorgeous scenery while I explored. If you’re in Southern California, I highly recommend paying a visit to see for yourself! I know I plan on making a return very soon!
Know of any other eco-friendly shopping centers? Let me know in the comments!
