Happy Holidays!

Oh She Glows Snickerdoodles by Vegan À La Mode (Vegan and Gluten-Free)

I hope you all have been having a lovely holiday season! It’s only the first day of winter and I have already enjoyed some great get togethers with friends and family, warm mugs of vegan hot cocoa, Christmas-movie-watching and lots of Christmas cookies!

This past weekend my boyfriend, Thomas, and I hosted a holiday dinner with his family and had such a great time! For dinner, we served a vegan and gluten-free Baked Ziti and Simple Side Salad with Shallot-Dijon Vinaigrette from Chloe’s Kitchen. I love fruit in my salads so I added in some chopped D’Anjou pears. For the baked ziti, I used this recipe from VegNews and just used brown rice penne noodles to make it gluten-free! It’s quite a bit of work so I was happy to have Thomas’ help with cooking it and getting it into the oven on time. The Baked Ziti turned out to be a hit and everyone went back for seconds! That’s the sign of a truly successful dinner :)

Since our dinner was a bit indulgent, I wanted to serve a light dessert. So I made Oh She Glows’ new recipe for Gluten-Free Snickerdoodles. The best part is that they are composed of wholesome flours like oat, almond and sorghum! The snickerdoodles were a cinch to whip up and made the perfect amount our guests! I couldn’t resist trying one before dinner and it was so delicious, I had to have a second! Thomas has already requested I make more!

Speaking of cookies, that reminds me that I still need to share my recipe for Candy Cane Sugar Cookies! I am hoping to make some up today, photograph them, and have them posted tomorrow! Be sure to check back for those :)

Are any of you hosting or have hosted any holiday dinners yet? If so, what did you make?

My mouth was actually watering reading your post!! That spread of food sounds like it was absolutely divine. It makes those challenging recipes so worth it when guests go back for seconds. 😀 And now you’re making me want those snickerdoodles! Way to be the best host ever. <3
