When looking for something comfy yet cute to wear, I always find myself reaching for a tank by The Tree Kisser. I love the uplifting messages on them that always seem to spark conversations. The Tree Kisser is made by Jessica Schlueter who is a devoted animal activist that I really admire! She chooses a different cause every month to donate 10% of profits to. It is so great that so many shelters and sanctuaries are being helped out through her designs!
Jessica recently started manufacturing her original designs in a factory in LA where they are cut and sewn from organic cotton and recycled polyester fabrics. The workers in the factory are paid around $12 an hour which is above the federal minimum. I love that I know who made this tank, what they were paid and where it was made. Of course, I also love that it was made ethically and sustainably. So many brands outsource to China or South America where the workers are paid so much less than they deserve, it’s not fair nor ethical. It’s so important to know where your clothes came from which is why I’m always so supportive of brands that offer information on how their products were made.
I love to pair my Tree Kisser tanks with leggings and TOMS on work days and pair them with jeans and ankle boots for a night out! The other tanks I own are the “Be Remembered” muscle top and the “Are You Making The World Better Today?” v-neck tank in black which is sold out but available in yellow or a t-shirt version.
While I’m on the subject of sustainability and transparency, Fashion Revolution is coming up on April 24th. You can also take part by starting to research who made your clothes and reading more on Fashion Revolution’s site. Of course, I will be wearing a Tree Kisser tank on the 24th!
p.s. We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a very pink sunset after taking these photos which was so perfect since I happened to be wearing this tank.
