Today I’m sharing all of my go-to vegan beauty products! Since going vegan, what I put on my body has become just as important as what I put in my body. So many people don’t realize that the skin is the body’s largest organ and absorbs what you put on it. That’s why it’s so important to buy products that are free of parabens and other harsh chemicals.
So many ingredients in common beauty brands like CoverGirl or L’Oreal have toxic ingredients that are known carcinogens. I use Skin Deep by EWG to check the ratings of the products I own. You can enter the name of the product you use and it will give you a score on a scale of 1-10 how hazardous it is. For example, the Juice Beauty CC Cream I use is rated 1 meaning it has a low hazard. I think this is such an awesome tool to use if you aren’t familiar with all the names of dangerous ingredients to look out for. They even have a mobile app so you can look while out shopping for makeup!
Of course, another thing I always watch out for is animal testing. I make sure I always buy products that are certified cruelty-free and free of any animal-based ingredients. Most of these products are marked with a bunny but always check by reading the label thoroughly.
Most of the makeup I own has actually come from Petit Vour, the vegan beauty box subscription I blogged about a few months ago. I love it because I know that whatever arrives in it will be vegan and cruelty-free. It’s also a great way to build up a collection of vegan beauty products if you are just starting out.
A few months ago, I only had a small collection of natural vegan beauty products but now I have a wide variety of vegan products to choose from when applying makeup. I’m going to tell you all about my favorites and how I use them!
I use CC cream every day because it’s moisturizing and slightly tinted to even out any discolorations on the face. I have two that I choose from depending on what my day looks like. If I’m going to be exercising and then working from home I like Juice Beauty’s CC cream because it’s very light and doesn’t cause breakouts from working out with it on. But for days when I want more coverage, like on weekends, I use Physician’s Formula organic CC cream because it gives me great coverage. Then I apply Physician’s Formula organic loose powder over that to set it.
My next step is to apply blush, no matter what my plans are. I love 100% Pure’s blush because it gives me a healthy glow and if I’m tired, makes me instantly look more awake. If it’s the weekend, then my next step is to apply Mineral Fusion’s bronzer duo to my cheekbones.
On weekdays, I usually just wear a little bit of 100% Pure’s eyeliner in brown and a small coat of mascara. Lily Lolo is a new mascara I received in the latest Petit Vour box and I really love it! It makes my lashes look much fuller and makes my eyes stand out more. For my brows, I use 100% Pure’s gel eyeliner to fill them in using an EcoTools brow brush. It sounds weird, but it matches my brows perfectly and keeps them in place!
My final step is to apply some color to my lips! I love French Girl Organics Lip Tint and use it just about every day. But for spring, I’ve also really been loving Pacifica’s lipstick! It’s a coral color that really brightens up the face and is great for the season.
So those are all my makeup necessities! Do you have any vegan products that you really love that I missed? Let me know in the comments!
