Sunrise Over The Bay

Sunrise Over The Bay by Vegan À La Mode

Sunday morning, Thomas and I arose at 5 AM to head to the bay to watch the sun rise. Watching the sunrise together was something I had been wanting to do for awhile. Ever since our early winter drives to Big Bear when I saw how gorgeous it was to watch the sky light up at dawn, I had been wanting to truly watch it and enjoy it. My friend Marin gave the suggestion of going to the bay to get a good view of the sun rising on the east. While it was a bit cloudier than anticipated, the view was still worth the early wake-up time.

It was chilly so I stayed cozy in my Ruche cardigan until the sun came up. I paired it with my new H&M CONSCIOUS tank top, Hudson skinny jeans, and TOMS polka dot slip-on shoes. I’ve been a fan of the H&M CONSCIOUS line and I am so excited to see how much the line is growing. You can read more on their sustainable practices here. The particular tank I am wearing is sold in stores only at the moment, but I’ve tagged a similar CONSCIOUS tank in the photo. My tank made from recycled polyester and is so comfy. My other eco-friendly piece I’m wearing are my TOMS which are composed of hemp, cotton, and recycled polyester. If you aren’t familiar with TOMS’ practices, they have a one for one program so when you buy a pair of shoes, a child in need also gets a pair. As I’ve said before, I love to support brands who give back and are making a difference in the world. It’s such an easy way to do your part for those who are less fortunate and for the planet!

Are the inside of your Toms not made of leather? I thought the fully vegan ones all had colored cloth linings? Not criticizing at all just curious. I love Toms too but wasn’t as impressed with the durability of the cloth lined ones.

You raise a good point Emily! I got this pair as a gift from one of my friends who asked the store if they were vegan and they told her yes but I am wondering if you are right and they are genuine leather. I thought it was man-made but you could be right. Amazon doesn’t say but I am going to do some research into it. I own the cloth lined ones and like them so far! They’ve held up for a year now! Might be worth giving them another try! Thanks so much for the feedback :)
