The beauty of the waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon was astounding. The drive to get to them was beautiful as well. Seeing the scenery and hiking up to the falls was by far one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Our first stop along the Columbia River Gorge was the Wahclecca Falls. It’s only a short hike up and then you are standing in front of the gorgeous waterfall! I loved the Wahclecca Falls because it was so serene and peaceful. We mostly had it to ourselves so we really got to enjoy the view!
After that, we continued on down to the Multnomah Falls which are by far the most popular falls for tourists to visit. We got there around 9 and it was already packed! While they were fun to see, I really preferred the Wahclecca Falls since it wasn’t so crowded. I would recommend visiting perhaps on a weekday morning so it might be less crowded at Multnomah Falls. We went on a weekend which is probably why there were so many people!
We continued on the highway and drove past Horsetail Falls which looked really pretty also! We decided not to stop there since we wanted to explore more of the scenery around the highway. We kept driving and stopped at the historic tunnel which was built in the early 1900s. There’s also some hikes around there you can do. If you want more info on the Columbia River Gorge and things to do around it, Travel Portland is a great resource!
Thomas and I kept going on the highway into Cascade Locks and ended up finding a beautiful park to relax at. It was such an unexpected discovery but sometimes those end up being the best part of a trip. The marine park had an amazing view of the water and the mountains behind it. We stayed for quite a while, just enjoying the scenery and the view. We took the scenic route home which took us through Stevenson, Washington and led us to more amazing views. We had to stop and admire the view for a bit before finally heading back to Portland. Overall, the day was perfect!
