Moonrise Kingdom Sam and Suzy couples costume

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween! Thomas and I had fun dressing up as Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop from Moonrise Kingdom! I’ve been wanting to do this couples costume for quite sometime so we had so much fun putting together our costumes! Today I’m sharing some photos of our costumes!

I searched and searched for the perfect Suzy Bishop dress for weeks. I wanted something that would fit well, be wearable even after Halloween, and be budget friendly. There were quite a few options on Etsy but so many were from out of the country so the shipping was outrageous! I came across the cutest shop, Oh Me Oh My Clothing, and decided to take a chance and ask her if she would make custom Suzy Bishop dress. Turns out she’s a fan of the movie so she happily obliged! I couldn’t be happier with my dress, I totally plan on wearing it again! I paired it with colorblock oxfords, knee socks, binoculars and a picnic basket to channel Suzy’s look.

For Thomas’s costume, we lucked out at Goodwill! We went with an open mind, really not expecting to find anything right off the bat. But we got lucky and came across the perfect shirt and it was only $8! We ordered Moonrise Kingdom replica patches off of Etsy and ironed them on to perfect it. Once paired with khaki shorts and a faux racoon hat, Thomas’s look was complete!

While I don’t know the characters you are “playing,” I do know you both look adorable. The setting is so moon-like and deserted. Your photos are fabulous, Karissa. You have a great eye for photography. XO
