I hope everyone had a merry Christmas! We spent ours in the South Bay visiting my family and couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. The weather was much colder than I anticipated though but luckily my mom’s closet is stocked full of cozy knit sweaters so I snagged one for an evening watching the sunset at Veterans Park.
Coat: Forever 21 (Sold Out; Similar), Sweater: Maison Jules, Necklace: Borrowed (Similar), Jeans: Hudson, Boots: Lulu’s
This year was actually my first full Christmas with Thomas! Even though we’ve been together for 3 1/2 years and have lived together for most of that, we’ve never got a full Christmas day together. Since my family lives in Redondo Beach and his lives in San Diego, it’s tricky to manage the holidays. Last year I spent Christmas eve with my family in LA while he stayed in San Diego and then he drove up Christmas evening to be with me. But it was so tough waking up on Christmas morning not being with him! This year we were lucky enough to find a way to spend the holiday together while still seeing both of our families I am so very grateful and I look forward to many more Christmas’s spent together!
For this wintery evening, we ventured out to Veterans Park along the Redondo Esplanade. The wind was unexpectedly icy and strong. I had cozied up in a chunky knit Maison Jules sweater paired with my new vegan over-the-knee boots from Lulu’s (thanks Mom!) but needed a coat within 10 minutes! The coat I’m wearing is actually Forever 21 (although I don’t shop there anymore) and I purchased it 4 years ago in New York! It’s wool free and made of polyester and cotton. As you guys probably I know, I prefer shopping ethically rather than at fast fashion chains but cruelty-free coats are especially hard to find, not to mention while on a budget. So I’ve held on to this for years and make use of it every winter. I tried to check for a similar one online for you guys but sadly it looks like Forever 21 is making their coats with wool now. But ASOS has a similar one that is cotton and is pretty similar! You could also check out Vaute Couture in NYC to see if they have any toggle coats.
How did you spend the holidays? Let me know in the comments!
