This weekend I finally got to try By Chloe after much anticipation. I’m sharing my review of By Chloe’s new location in Los Angeles!
By Chloe is the newest hotspot for vegan food by Chloe Coscarelli. Chloe Coscarelli is a huge inspiration to me and she actually inspired me to go vegan! I’ve been to both of her book signings in San Diego and also make her recipes from her cookbooks all of the time. So I’ve been so eager to try By Chloe and was so thrilled when she announced an LA location.
By Chloe is attached to the new 365 by Whole Foods which is a more affordable health food store in Echo Park. It’s small but cute and quaint with plenty of menu options to choose from. I went with my mom and Thomas and we had fun sharing a bunch of items, making sure we got to try everything. My mom and I split The Guac Burger on a gluten-free bun and the Mac N Cheese with Shiitake Bacon. The Guac Burger was by far the best veggie burger I’ve ever had. It had crispy tortilla strips which added the perfect crunch and then a tasty guacamole topping with corn. Plus a spread of chipotle aioli gave it a little kick! Thomas also got The Guac Burger also, as his entree and agreed it is the best veggie burger around.
We accidentally forgot to specify gluten-free for the mac n cheese so make sure you do that or otherwise you’ll have to go order another one like I did. Luckily, Thomas and my mom can eat gluten so they happily enjoyed the non-GF one. For reference, the GF mac n cheese is made with elbow noodles instead of shells. I do wish they would automatically make it GF since my mom and Thomas agreed it tasted exactly the same, just the noodles were different shapes. It’s a bit disheartening to have to pay an extra $2.50 to make it gluten-free.
We also shared an order of the air baked original and sweet potato fries. The dipping sauces for these were so unique, a pink beet ketchup and chipotle aioli! I liked the chipotle aioli best out of the two
For dessert, I got a gluten-free chocolate cupcake which was so moist and had the creamiest frosting. My mom split a Chlostess Cupcake and a Raspberry Tiramisu Cupcake with my aunt and they said both were delicious but that the raspberry tiramisu was the best. Thomas couldn’t pass up the cinnamon roll which he quickly declared the best vegan cinnamon roll ever.
Overall, everything lived up to the rave reviews and I left very full and very satisfied! I only hope they open more LA locations or even a San Diego location soon! I am already ready to go back for another guac burger and a chocolate cupcake!
