I’m all about savory breakfasts lately. Weekday mornings, I always make Thomas and I a smoothie or occasionally, I pop a couple gluten-free frozen waffles in the toaster for a quick and easy breakfast. Since the weekdays are filled with sweet mornings, I like to switch to a savory start on the weekend.

I had never tried heirloom tomatoes prior to this (or didn’t remember trying them.) But I saw so many pretty, colorful tomatoes at Whole Foods and couldn’t resist picking up a few. I decided to put them on a Schar gluten-free baguette for a tasty toast. Once drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with flaked sea salt, they literally melt in  your mouth.

I only wish I would have discovered heirloom tomatoes sooner! I’m dreading them going out of season! But while you can still find them in stores, you must make this heirloom tomato toast!

    You couldn’t possibly have picked a better time to try heirloom tomatoes – they are at the best in late August and early September. I’ve been trying to put tomatoes in/on everything lately to get my fill before they go out of season! I actually make a similar recipe, but I add a little bit of crumbled feta and, if I’m feeling fancy, a bit of balsamic vinegar – and it’s so good! So lovely to meet you through Veronika, I’m looking forward to reading more :)
