Happy World Vegan Month! Today, I’m sharing the reasons why I love being vegan and choose to eat plant-based meals such as this creamy curried butternut squash soup.
November 1st marks World Vegan Day and the month of November is recognized as World Vegan Month by the Vegan Society. I’d like to share a few of the positive ways that veganism has affected my life in honor of World Vegan Month.
- Health: My health has greatly improved in so many ways since going vegan. I used to suffer from chronic digestive issues and frequently felt nauseous after eating. It turned out, I was lactose intolerant and that was what was making me sick. Going vegan completely solved that issue and made it possible for me to enjoy eating without the worries of feeling sick. In addition to improved digestion, I also feel more energized and catch colds far less frequently.
- Environment: I never thought much about the environment before going vegan. I never thought about how my choices could impact the world we live in. But once I went vegan and started doing my research, I realized how important it is to live a conscious lifestyle. Veganism alone reduces your carbon footprint and uses far less water than a carnivorous lifestyle. Plus, veganism opened my eyes to the many ways I could help the environment such as reducing waste, shopping secondhand, etc.
- Purpose: I developed my love of cooking and photography mostly due to veganism. Once I went vegan, I fell in love with cooking and was eager to share my creations. I started taking photos of my meals with my phone and soon enough, I got my first DSLR thanks to Thomas and then developed a passion for photography. Now, I try to do at least 3 if not more photoshoots a week and I cook a homemade meal almost daily! Going vegan helped me in so many ways and I am so grateful for the inspiration it provides me.
There are so many benefits to going vegan so I really urge you to give veganism a chance (if you haven’t already.) Even just by participating in Meatless Monday, you can make a positive impact on your own life and the environment
