Finding Fall

Finding Fall by Vegan À La ModeThis past Sunday, my boyfriend, Thomas and I took an impromptu day trip to Julian which is about a small town outside of San Diego famed for their apple pies and rich history (it was a mining town during the Gold Rush). We wanted a change of scenery for the day since it hardly looks like fall in sunny San Diego.

Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen

Chloe's Vegan Italian Kitchen

This week has been so busy but so fun! Monday was Chloe Coscarelli’s book singing for her new cookbook, Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen. When I heard about it, I knew I had to go because I had a great time at the signing for her last cookbook, Chloe’s Vegan Desserts. This time I went with my boyfriend, Thomas, and my friend, Claire. I also entered the bake-off competition! I was so excited because I had never entered any sort of cooking competition before so I was really looking forward to the challenge.

Seattle Vegan Restaurants Review

Seattle was truly a vegan’s paradise. To be honest the number of options was a little overwhelming. Luckily I had received some recommendations of restaurants from friends so I could easily narrow down all the choices! Here’s all the places we ate at and loved:

Seattle Photo Diary

Seattle by Vegan À La Mode

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Washington this summer and had the best time. Seattle is by far one of my favorite cities I have ever traveled. If we weren’t so attached to the California sunshine, we would love to move there! Of course, there are vegan options all around and most of the food is organic which is even more incentive! I took plenty of photos of all the vegan offerings in Seattle but first I wanted to share my favorite shots of all the gorgeous places we visited. The photos were taken at the following places: The Big Wheel, Snoqualmie Falls, Rattlesnake Ledge, Fremont Farmers’ Market, and Gas Works Park. You can hover over the photos of me to see tags of what I’m wearing.

Spotlight On The Anti-Mall

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! My boyfriend and I headed up to Redondo Beach on Thursday for a brief weekend getaway. On the way, we decided to make a stop for dinner at Seabirds Kitchen in Costa Mesa. After getting a bit lost, we finally found Seabirds nestled within a colorful and lively outdoor shopping center aptly named “The Anti-Mall”. With an array of artsy eclectic shops and restaurants, our interest was instantly peaked.

SDSummer Challenge

I’m excited because today the SDSummer Challenge, hosted by The Seasonal Diet, kicked off! The goal of the SDSummer Challenge is to help participants to stay on track with a healthy diet this summer. The Challenge is 21 days long and all challenges are vegan and gluten-free friendly! Of course I was immediately on board after reading through the challenge packet so I signed up right away! You can join (for free!!) by visiting The Seasonal Diet website.

Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother's Day 4

Usually Monday mornings are rather dreary but today I am full of gratitude and happiness after a wonderful weekend. Friday night, I got to see Ingrid Michaelson, my absolute favorite singer, perform at Humphrey’s By The Bay in Point Loma thanks to my amazing boyfriend who surprised me with the tickets as an early graduation gift. Then, we had a nice lazy Saturday together which was the perfect way to relax before I headed to Newport Beach on Mother’s Day. I celebrated the day with my mom, aunt and grandmother and enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch True Food Kitchen. I can’t believe I had never eaten at True Food Kitchen given it’s menu is so health conscious in addition to being vegan/gluten-free friendly. We were all very excited to eat there since their menu seriously has something for everyone!

Welcome To Vegan À La Mode: A Vegan Fashion and Food Blog

Vegan À La Mode: Vegan Fashion and Food Blog

Welcome to Vegan À La Mode, a vegan fashion and food blog! I’m Karissa, a 21 year old fashion blogger of 5 years and this is my first time focusing my blogging on veganism! I’ve loved fashion since the moment I first laid eyes on the Style Network and have been searching for a way to connect my two passions since becoming a vegan one year ago. Though I had been a vegetarian for almost 5 years before switching to vegan, I was blissfully ignorant when it came to the origins of my leather boots and wool sweaters. Becoming a vegan opened my eyes to the world of cruelty-free living and I sought to make my closet 100% vegan. I’m a devout shopaholic, chocoholic and lover of all things French-related (hence the blog title)! I hope to inspire all my readers (vegan or not) by creating a place where fashion meets compassion. I’ll be posting a mix of cruelty-free fashion looks, delicious recipes and lifestyle posts. I also am looking forward to connecting with others living a compassionate lifestyle so I hope to hear feedback on post suggestions and your own favorite vegan products/recipes! Feel free to reach out by commenting or emailing me!
