My Vegan Story

My Vegan StoryI was lucky enough to have the lovely Lindsay of Lindsay Living Vegan ask me to be a part of her “My Vegan Story” Series. I talk about why I went vegan and how it changed my life. Be sure to read it and check out some of Lindsay’s yummy recipes after you check out the story! Hope you all enjoy the post, here’s the link :)

Sunday Simplicity

On the weekends I love fuss-free looks that are simple yet stylish. The weekend is short enough as it is so I want to spend less time carefully crafting my outfit and more time out and about. To make this process easier I decided I should focus on wardrobe building with easy to mix and match pieces. Lately my fave staple pieces include v-neck tees paired with layered necklaces, skinny jeans and ankle boots. For more active days, I can easily swap out the boots with ballet flats. I love how easy it is to get dressed when most of my wardrobe is already coordinated!

Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen

Chloe's Vegan Italian Kitchen

This week has been so busy but so fun! Monday was Chloe Coscarelli’s book singing for her new cookbook, Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen. When I heard about it, I knew I had to go because I had a great time at the signing for her last cookbook, Chloe’s Vegan Desserts. This time I went with my boyfriend, Thomas, and my friend, Claire. I also entered the bake-off competition! I was so excited because I had never entered any sort of cooking competition before so I was really looking forward to the challenge.

Vegan Cuts Fashion Guide

Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite looks from the Vegan Cuts Fashion Guide. I think the guide is truly a must read for everyone (vegan or not!) The seriously stylish Ashlee Piper of The Lil Foxes teamed up with Vegan Cuts to share how possible it is to veganize your wardrobe and shop sustainably. Don’t forget to leave a comment and tell me which look was your favorite!

Seattle Vegan Restaurants Review

Seattle was truly a vegan’s paradise. To be honest the number of options was a little overwhelming. Luckily I had received some recommendations of restaurants from friends so I could easily narrow down all the choices! Here’s all the places we ate at and loved:

Seattle by Vegan À La Mode

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Washington this summer and had the best time. Seattle is by far one of my favorite cities I have ever traveled. If we weren’t so attached to the California sunshine, we would love to move there! Of course, there are vegan options all around and most of the food is organic which is even more incentive! I took plenty of photos of all the vegan offerings in Seattle but first I wanted to share my favorite shots of all the gorgeous places we visited. The photos were taken at the following places: The Big Wheel, Snoqualmie Falls, Rattlesnake Ledge, Fremont Farmers’ Market, and Gas Works Park. You can hover over the photos of me to see tags of what I’m wearing.

Mixed Berry Crisp

Mixed Berry Crisp by Vegan À La Mode (Vegan, Gluten-Free and Refined Sugar-Free)

Since the end of summer is nearing, I thought it was time to take advantage of all the sweet berries in season and use them in a dessert. I turned to my favorite baking ingredient, oats and maple syrup to create a crisp mixed berry crumble. This recipe is so easy to make and can be easily interchanged with whatever berries you have on hand!

Compassionately Casual

When it comes to casual pieces like tanks and tees, I’ve been shopping eco-friendly brands that make a difference with the money they earn from proceeds. Some of these brands include Threads 4 Thought and The Tree Kisser (post on this brand to come soon!) but my newest favorite is Vaute Couture. Vaute Couture by Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart is one of the chicest vegan brands out there. I’ve been swooning over Leanne’s stylish cruelty-free coats for quite a while but unfortunately they are a bit impractical for San Diego. But when I recently noticed Vaute Couture had a “Casual Wear” section stocked with cute tees and tanks, I instantly placed an order! This particular tank benefits PCRM’s effort to end animal testing on puppies. Shopping sustainable and ethical brands is an easy way to make a difference!

Spotlight On The Anti-Mall

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! My boyfriend and I headed up to Redondo Beach on Thursday for a brief weekend getaway. On the way, we decided to make a stop for dinner at Seabirds Kitchen in Costa Mesa. After getting a bit lost, we finally found Seabirds nestled within a colorful and lively outdoor shopping center aptly named “The Anti-Mall”. With an array of artsy eclectic shops and restaurants, our interest was instantly peaked.
