Pine Knot Trail

Cozy sweater and crochet denim shorts #AEOStyle

Thursday, we headed up for a cabin trip in the mountains with our friends.  Big Bear Lake is one of mine and Thomas’ favorite winter destinations. It’s only three hours away from San Diego and it feels so good to be transported to a snowy wonderland. On Friday, we were lucky enough to have a sunny morning with perfect weather for hiking so we set out to explore Pine Knot Trail.

Cherry Dress

Cherry Dress by Vegan À La Mode

On our last night in Portland, Thomas and I were eager to have a fancy night out. All of the restaurants we had been to were casual so we were really hoping to eat somewhere a little nicer and we lucked out by finding Departure downtown. While we were heading back to our AirBnB to get ready for dinner, I noticed a cute boutique while I was stopped at a traffic light. The first thing I spotted was a cherry print dress. Thomas caught me staring at it and said, “You want that cherry dress don’t you?” I told him yes and he said we should go so I pulled into the lot and lucky enough, the dress was even cuter up close! Sunrise Over The Bay

Sunrise Over The Bay by Vegan À La Mode

Sunday morning, Thomas and I arose at 5 AM to head to the bay to watch the sun rise. Watching the sunrise together was something I had been wanting to do for awhile. Ever since our early winter drives to Big Bear when I saw how gorgeous it was to watch the sky light up at dawn, I had been wanting to truly watch it and enjoy it. My friend Marin gave the suggestion of going to the bay to get a good view of the sun rising on the east. While it was a bit cloudier than anticipated, the view was still worth the early wake-up time.

Flower Fields

Flower Fields by Vegan À La Mode

Spring has most definitely sprung! Saturday, Thomas and I headed up to Carlsbad to visit the flower fields. The sun was shining and no clouds were in sight although that made it feel a bit more like summer than spring. But one look at the field of vibrant blooms and it was apparent that it most certainly is spring. The rows and rows of varying flowers are so mesmerizing, we spent nearly two hours wandering the fields. Had the park stayed open past six, I am sure we would have stayed longer!
